Family Service just celebrated our 75th anniversary. The big question is, “now what?” While milestones and achievements are worth celebrating, you can never rest on your accomplishments. We have work to do.
Learning to embrace the journey is just as important as the destination. The vacation is that much more rewarding when you earned that rest. The big win over a rival team is more satisfying when you understand the commitment it took to win. When you studied hard for years to graduate college, the effort is what makes the degree more valuable.
What really matters is what we do day in and day out. How do you answer those emails to inquiring clients? What kind of attitude do you bring to the weekly staff meetings? Did you offer a helping hand to the team member struggling with a client or activity? These are the moments that matter. At Family Service, we want to show up in those mundane moments. We want folks to feel the difference with our team members. The world can be a difficult and unpredictable place for many people. Family Service wants to go against the grain and lead through daily action, accountability, and kindness. Learning to cultivate daily gratitude and appreciation for your life, surroundings, and opportunities will go a long way in making our community a better place to live. As Justin Sua said “Embrace the boredom of consistency.”
Family Service was chosen by the AAUW for their 2022 Gateway to Equity Award. Each month they will be collecting and donating with a different theme. The AAUW collected baby items this month. They filled the entire closet with diapers, wipes, baby wash, shampoo and some cute baby clothes! These donations will be a blessing to our clients. Thank you AAUW!
