Amanda, entered the program because her family was forcing her out of the house. She was pregnant and had no employment. While in the program, she found a full-time job, walked to work when transportation was not available all within 3 months in the program. She was grateful for the SHP because without it, they would have ended up in a shelter. Our Life Skills Counselor (LSC) assists clients with the housing search and provides a game plan for success.
Mary, a single mother of two, will be starting college this fall. This opportunity is possible due to a new tuition waiver for current and former foster youth. She became very sick while in our program and lost her employment due to an unexpected illness. Our committed staff was able to connect Mary with the Family Unification Program which provides housing vouchers. All this would not be possible if it was not for the work of the Life Skills Counselor and the Supportive Housing team!
